        "The hens deserve a mention"
Our hens have a large, fenced area to explore where they are safe from the fox. Recently goshawks have started to breed in the area, which is great, but they have taken two hens this year. So the pen has a scarecrow and various streamers. Fingers crossed!
‘Our third stay in this lovely rural retreat. Saw many red kites and buzzards flying overhead, heard a tawny owl and caught a fox and two hedgehogs on our field camera, snuffling around outside the flat.’

‘Have been meaning to visit since spotting the advert in the RSPB magazine several years ago and it was definitely worth the wait. Perfect relaxing break with a very welcome starter pack awaiting us on arrival. We found Ferndale to be perfectly located for day trips to Much Wenlock, Bridgnorth and Ludlow and the fabulous walks around Church Stretton. Despite our plans to eat out we ended up eating ‘at home’ every evening as we felt so comfortable in the flat (and also because we found some wonderful food close by to bring back to eat – Pig and Pie in Much Wenlock and Arbuckle butchers in Bridgnorth particularly worthy of mention – the latter for their cold game pie and deep-filled venison and red wine pie). Already planning a return visit!’

‘Had a great week in Shropshire. Beautiful flat with everything we needed – so well fitted out – it’s the little details that make all the difference. Really appreciate the efforts to be sustainable. We loved Much Wenlock (the Priory and surrounding walks, museum, old buildings, Barrow Street Tea room especially with the extra dollops of cream with our cake!). Shrewsbury town, castle, river and museum all warranted an extra day. When we walked up to Wilderhope the manor wasn’t open but the guide was happy to show us round anyway. We would love to return and visit all we missed this time round!’

Our first stay in this lovely flat, but definitely won’t be our last! The view from the balcony is stunning. Wendy is a wonderful host and we felt very welcome here.
We recommend the many walks on the doorstep and also the great places to visit, including Stokesay Castle, Clun, Wenlock Priory and Buildwas Abbey. The Swan at Aston Munslow and the Fox at Much Wenlock are among the local pubs serving good food.
