The Accommodation

 

  • a two-storey coach house-style timber building, recently erected;
  • purpose-built for self-catering holidays;
  • set in the grounds of the main house, Ferndale, which has about seven acres of garden, woodland and sheep grazing;
  • a balcony equipped with table and chairs and with views towards Wenlock Edge;
  • car parking;


  • well-equipped kitchen; electric cooker, microwave, fridge (with freezer compartment); washing machine;
  • welcome hamper with things you might need (such as milk and bread) and things you might enjoy (such as wine and chocolates) to get your stay off to a good start;
  • dining area;
  • comfortable sitting room with settee and arm chairs;
  • oak staircase and flooring;
  • TV with DVD player and Freeview channels; radio; CD player;
  • telephone (coin operated) and broadband (free);
  • bedroom with double bed (and cot if required);
  • bathroom with separate bath and shower;
  • centrally heated (and solar assistance with water heating);
  • all bedlinen, towels and teatowels are provided, along with a few guest soaps and shampoos and other consumables that will keep you going until you can do some shopping;
  • we support the Buy Local campaign, not only to support local traders but also to reduce "food miles."



  • the kitchen, sitting room and bedroom are on the first floor; the bathroom is on the ground floor;
  • the downstairs bathroom is wheelchair friendly but the stairs up to the main accommodation may be difficult for some visitors;
  • eco-friendly timber construction with a high level of insulation, solar water heating and rainwater harvesting for toilet flushing;
  • other eco-friendly ideas include a wind-up radio, facilities for recycling and chemical-free cleaning products.




  • a three-day weekend break (Friday to Sunday nights);or
  • a four-day mid-week break (Monday to Thursday nights); or
  • a seven day stay (or longer), usually with a Saturday change-over;
  • fully inclusive charges; no extras;

  • bicycles can be hired locally - or bring your own; they can be kept under cover;


  • some mobile phones do not work here (Orange does work) but there is a landline payphone;
  • no smoking in the flat or the grounds;
  • well-behaved dogs welcome (but must be kept under strict control because of the family cats and chickens and grazing sheep);

  • ready for letting in the spring 2009;
